Nicola'S Report 8 Mar 2012 23:10

The eldest daughter EDITH ALINE BOOTH of my Great Great Grandmother's younger sister EDITH ELIZABETH BOOTH, nee Law is nowhere to be seen in the 1901 census under her married name of DENTON!!

She was born in 1864, married Charles Ashpitel Denton in 1886 and they had just one child, Edith Jane Denton who went on to marry Colonel Hubert Francis Burke, etc., etc.

I have her in all other census years, including 1911, but she is clearly missing off the 1901 census.

Please can anyone spot her for me?

Many thanks.

Nicola

In 1901 in hospital just under initials?

Nicola'S

Nicola'S Report 9 Mar 2012 10:57

Patchem, I did try to imply that she was 'missing' on the 1901! -

"but she is clearly missing off the 1901 census." as per my initial thread.

Apologies if I didn't spell it out.

I guess she may have been in hospital; it certainly was not in connection with another baby, since the 1911 gives just one child born i.e., their only daughter Edith Jane Denton.

I will be a bit patchy on this thread during today but will try to get back on to it later this evening.

Many thanks to all who can help me on this one.

My personal view is that she could well be visiting another family member, since they were a large and close family.

But so far I can't see her with any of the obvious culprits!

Not seeing anything. ? badly written and transcribed or missed for whatever reason

Nicola'S Report 10 Mar 2012 12:58

I agree with Stuart that she is probably badly written/transcribed. She's not with her husband and only child in 1901; husband a very respectable solicitor and they're all together in 1911 in a HUGE seventeen room house in a posh part of London.

Can anyone do some magic with wild cards, etc, please? I'm not very good at that and I'd be very grateful.

I can see that ALOT of you have taken a peep at this one - 78 to date! Thank you very much.

I have done very well with a little sideline of this branch of the family since last night. It took a wrong turn for a moment but then I got back on track. Sadly, our elusive gal is nowhere to be seen with them either . . .

PLEASE keep looking for me.

Thank you.

Nicola - I can only suggest you look up every single member of her family and her husband's that you know of and see if she's lurking ...

Nicola'S Report 10 Mar 2012 23:47

Thank you all.

Am now waiting for her sister's marriage certificate in 1901 to see if she is perhaps a witness.

Will continue to search for her in hidden corners.
