The US 1930 census is free on Ancestry today (20th) only.

here is an excellent site to check for arrivals in New York ......... all immigrants had to go through Ellis Island.

This site carries records from 1892 to about 1935

http://www.ellisisland.org/



You have to register with the site to view the records, but it is free.

George Reed's arrival is on there .................... click on his name, you can see details of his arrival.

The click on Original Ship's Manifest.

Then, there's been a bit of mess-up .......... clcik on Next Page to get the names of the immigrants.


Each passenger's information covers 2 pages.


There's lots of information on there.
