Nicola'S Report 4 Feb 2012 20:04

This branch of my family emigrated to Swarthmore, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Although they are commemorated on grave kerbs in Cheshire in the UK on the family memorial, they all definitely died out in Philadelphia.

EMMELINE WALKER, died post 1923.
GEORGE EDWARD WALKER, died post 1913.
URSULA VIOLET WALKER, died post 1930.
HERVEY JERMAIN CREIGHTON, died post 1930.
JEAN/JANE HAMILTON CREIGHTON, died post 1930.
ROSAMOND CREIGHTON, died post 1930.

Can sks help me with their actual death details, please? I would be very grateful.

Thank you.

Nicola

A look up at:
https://novascotiagenealogy.com/
gives a delayed b.rego (informant - HJC Dec 1954 - with free images) of
Henry Jermain Creighton, b 2/3/1886 s/o Henry Dolby Creighton and Helen James Creighton nee Robson
supported by info taken from a fly-leaf between the testaments of the family bible, and from his Dartmouth public school admission record.
[addy=33 Church St, Dartmouth - the street still exists - it's abt 1km E of the Macdonald Bridge, just east of Park St at edge of park - my guess is a low # like 33 means it's fairly near the waterfront]
[In 1878-1907, provincial funding cuts forced the suspension of B & D regos.]

[addy=227 Park Ave, Swarthmore PA]

Althoigh they immig'd 1893/4 (depending which census you believe), I couldn't find them in 1900, so I wondered if George had remarried, or his daughters were really stepdaurs (no to both), so I checked the English records (I expect you have this, already but...)

Marriages Jun 1882 (>99%)

Births Jun 1885 (>99%)
Walker Ursula Congleton 8a 314

Births Dec 1887 (>99%)
WALKER Jane Hamilton Congleton 8a 211

From http://www.cheshirebmd.org.uk/ they were both born in the Congleton subdistrict of Congleton RD.

I don't have any sub, but here the kids are with their grandad - Annie's a visitor, and Ancestry has Emmeline down as Besant. The other 3 are servants - I don't know where George is, but in 1910 he's a travelling Salesman - maybe he was back then too, and he's off on business.

To all of you who helped out with this thread, a BIG thank you.

We were in Philadelphia for a family wedding in the summer but until then nobody knew of the family's emigration to that city!

So we caught up with the present owners of the Walker's lovely home in the leafy suburbs and he has offered to do some local research for us. So kind.

I thought you would like to know that all your hard work has had a major happy ending.

Thank you.
