Where's William and the children ? UPDATE 16 Jan

Morning 'allotment and Nicky down south. Have just been studying your last responses and I agree that the death COULD well be the right one. William's age varies on census returns ie 8 on '51, 18 on '61, 28 on '71, 39 on '81, and 46 on '91. So for him to have died in 1897, his age is not far out. Have noted this. Also the William Chandler living alone age 26 looks good, particularly as he is a general labourer and shows as a pavior for local council on 1911 (original image).

Once again I have researched this family further and further back and AGAIN they have done a disappearing act - on 1841 this time. The last siting I have got (1851 census)s William Chandler (yes, William again! ) age 37 born Devizes, Wiltshire, wife Mary 45 b Devizes, son George 15 b Devizes and another William, son age 8. Needless to say neither William, Mary or George are showing their faces on 1841. So frustrating. This family is driving me insane !!!
