I'm trying to find info on william Cleaton b 1803 all i have is from the 1851 census at the time he lived in Wednesbury his wife is Hannah 1806 He was born in Kerry (Ceri) Montgomeryshire his wife was born in Rushall
Staffordshire I cannot find anything else ot about him

They were living in West Bromwich Registration District, Staffordshire on the 1851 census. This could be Hannah's death:-

The death certificate could tell you whether she was a "wife" or "widow" so you would know whether William died before or after her.

thank you it does not give her age at death but it sounds like the right one so I will send for certificate and go from there
I have found a marriage on wolverhampton archives but I do not know Hannahs maiden name so not sureif it is right and no birth for either of them

I have just found William on 1871 census he is still living in West bromwich but he remarried to a Eliza she as 2 daughters on census surname Thompson also a Thomas Hall grandson ?? Williams birth is 1807 strange how so mant details the same on what Lindsey gave me I will have to try and find 2nd marriage to find maiden name

I looked at the 1851 Census, and noted he was a Shoe Maker (Master), and had 2 daughters, Sarah and Hannah.

Searching for Cleaton did not work, so I searched for Sara* Cl*ton, b. 1834 +/- 5 years, b. Staffordshire, england

where * is a wild mark card

This looks like him in 1841

Can't see a baptism for daughter Hannah

On that 1871 Census, Thomas C Hall is shown as Grandson, age 21, b. Moxley, Staffordshire. Butcher but unable to follow his trade. In the last column, it says "Fits, last 12 years.


In the 1861 Census that I found, there was a William Hall, wife Eleanor and family living next door to William Cleaton.


I'm suspicious that Eleanor Hall was actually William's daughter ..... but I can't find a marriage for her!
