Edith E Knott 1930 is Patrica Knott's sister and I think the E is for Elizabeth just like Edith's mother..... who was born 1909 Edith Elizabeth Thornton..... the Edith Im looking for is Edith and Patrica Knott's grandmother her Name is Edith as well she was born 1880 but cant find her maiden name any where......in one of the census 1911 I found she had been married about 14 years it worked out that she would of married around about 1896-97 sadly her husbands name wasn't on it.......when I put that info in BDM it came up with a William that married in Hull at that time the female he married wasn't Edith xx

Mother's maiden names were only added to the birth REGISTRATIONS in mid-1911


Although ....... some other bmd sites do show mmn sometimes. Lancashire bmd's are very good for that


sometimes you can get information from Baptism records ................ from the new familysearch site, where the records are taken from the Parish Records.

I was that happy to of found some information myself on a site I wasn't familiar with I didn't think...... because the person I was looking for had passed away I didn't think about the rest of them living people...... After I found Patrica Knott's brother's and sister's with your help I managed to find Patrica's Mum's brothers and sisters....... thought I was doing really well then I came to a dead end when not one of Edith Thornton (Patrica's Mum's) brothers or sister had there mums maiden name on there birth transcripts and I couldn't find there fathers first name.

Any body out there who would be able to tell what do I do next when that happens I checked a few census as well came up with names that didn't seem to match up xx

The assumption we usually make is that anyone born within the last 100 years is still alive ........ until we find a death registration for them.


Ancestry has a computer programme that automatically changes the forename of a person born within the last 120 yearst o "Living" on its family trees ......... unless a date of death is included.

Thank you for the free search site I on there now its not giving me the info I want im not sure if Im using it properly it new to me when Im doing searches can I put estimated year in search boxes.

The siblings was one of them a Kenneth Knott I think it is her brother I dont know of anybody else.
