Find Ancestors

Peter Nichols was born about 1750.

He married firstly Ann Crow and had 2 children, Elizabeth & Sarah. On the death of Ann he married Lydia Abbott and had many more children.

I have tried through sites to establish his parents, but with no luck.

Can you please advise the best way to establish his birth and his parents.

There are a few to choose from on Ancestry within your time frame.
Additionally there is someone with a Nichols Family Tree showing your Family names including Peter's father, William..

Have written to the tree owner to try to find out why he/she thinks William is the father.
The Nichol(l)s clan certainly believed in having large families - with a high % surviving - so visit to the Records Office might present an impossible task.

Bulmer is only about 3 to 4 miles from Sudbury

I already have details of Peter's two marriages including info on the wives# births and parents.

Peter is the hard one to find.

Would love to discover who is my 5 x Gt Grandfather.

I have now looked in greater detail at the info you provided and noted one interesting fact - burial of Sarah in 1775 as the child of Peter & Lydia.

Lydia married Peter Nichols in Jan 1773 and had her first child, Joseph, in Nov 1773. I can find no trace of her having a child called Sarah.

Peter and Ann Crow had Sarah in May1772 and Ann died in October 1772.

The burial of Sarah as a child of Peter & Lydia seems to provide the evidence for Peter marrying Lydia shortly after the death of his wife - to provide a mother for his two small daughters.

In reviewing Ann Crow - Peter's first wife - have found that I have recorded her burial as Oct 17 1772, but NOT where I obtained the info.

Have now trawled throughh all the possible sources I know and drawn a blank.

Fresh pair of eyes needed please.
