As for the two Matildas! Possible scenario, William has left Matilda (the mother of Emily) and is living with another Matilda having changed his name to Henry and changed his occupation from shoemaker to metal worker!

Also I now have Matilda on two different 1891 Census' any ideas?

The 1881 William Howard census is not your family I'm afraid.

According to the 1891 census all the Horwood children who appear on it were born in Hackney.

Incidentally on that census Henry Horwood's occupation was a metal worker.

I had spotted the 1907 Agnes Horwood wedding that Helen found but I discounted it because that bride's father, Henry occupation was given as an instrument maker.

As 1881 census seems to be a mystery could someone tell me where the children were born as I can't seem to find any of them around the Hackney or Bethnal Green area except Agnes born 1885 Hackney.
