Ian, I should have said that the Poor Relief records at the Mitchell are indexed which makes them easy to search. If you are going on a Saturday or evening just 'phone to check that there will be a porter on duty to bring the great tomes to you! |

If you don't have the census, do you want me to see if I can find Margaret with her parents please? If so give me their names from the marriage certificate. |

Alas Ian there are no early Irish census! They were destroyed. The only ones currently available are the 1901 and 1911. |

This may be Margaret before they married? Not that it helps really - just looking for a possible area that Patrick may be living in. Of course at that time there were loads of Irish in the Gorbals area (my own lot included!) |

Still trying to find Patrick lurking in the 1881. He must have been in Glasgow or surrounding area before he married Margaret - unless it was a real whirlwind romance! |
