Having a few problems tracing the McQueeney/McQueeny family and was wondering if anyone could help? My problem seems to be with the variation of the spelling McQueeney/McQueeny. I can only get as far back as my gg grandfather, William McQueeney c1860-c1906, - Place of Birth...Woolwich, Kent. He married an Elizabeth Ann Hemmings in Woolwich in 1882. |

you need the marriage cert to be sure, especially as it is a direct line relative |

I was puzzled by the father's occupation on the 1861 posted above by Astra - it states 'Marine', so I went back to check the marriage cert in case the 'Tailor' on there should have been 'Sailor', BUT it definitely says 'Tailor' ! |

Bernard died in 1867 which could be the reason that he was unsure of his father's occupation |

I think that as Bernard's father was a Tailor, it is very probable that Bernard followed him in his trade and was a Tailor before he joined the Royal Marines? |
