Find Ancestors

I'm searching for Lily Potts pos born in Doncaster c1889. Lily and Thomas lived in Manchester, they had one daughter, Brenda. Thomas's father was also called Thomas but we don't know where he was from. Lily had a sister called Ivy who married Fred Elvedge, they lived and died in Doncaster, Theres mention of a brother Tom. I can't seem to find them on BMD or ancestry. Can anyone advise me in which direction to take my search?

Thanks maddie, that was quick! Details are a bit sketchy really. Brenda Whittaker was born 21.2.1924 at 49 Clinton Ave, Manchester (Withington district) Lily was classed as old when she gave birth. We know that lily died c1953 at 393 Princess Rd, Fallowfield, Manchester, as did her husband Thomas Whittaker c1957. Thomas & his father, also thomas had links with the Wholesale business - we have a photograph of a shop called Whittakers - but we don't know where it is, pos in the Manchester area as they didn't seem to move far from where they lived. Brenda (my mum in law) died this year and was unable or unwilling to give us any more information!
