Jane Thackray married Joshua Longfield(b1823) in Otley, probably All Saints, in 4q 1843. ref:- 23 535

Joshua died and was buried at All Saints, Otley 25/2/1851 age 28.

Thanks Ian. Yes I saw the Hannah Holdsworth in IGI but not the bit about William being a mason! I can't see a birth for William either, if my take on the 1851 census is correct as giving his birth place as Otley.
Ah well, time to move on to George's wife's family and see where that leads.....

There is a marriage 6/7/1823 at St Peter's(Leeds Parish Church) between a William and a Hannah Holdsworth but the record states occupation 'Mason'. Not looking likely although Leeds only a short distance away. No ages are given.

Can't see any others around the mid 1820's for them and Hannah is often shortened to Ann.

Whilst you have been delving, have you by any chance seen a suitable marriage for William and Ann as the only one in IGI is for a Hannah Moody in Otley in 1822, rather early for Ann born 1805 plus that William and Hannah have some children in Otley immediately prior to the Denton family.

Had another look and found at St Helen's:-

Charles born 15/2/1826, baptised 25/2/1826.

Same parents, father a Blacksmith

Sorry to jump in on this thread but I have just checked the West Yorkshire Parish Records on Ancestry and there are records from St Helen's, Denton.

Henry son of William and Ann borm 7/5/1831, baptised 12/5/1831

Further down on the same page is listed:-

George son of William and Ann born 21/8/1829, baptised 23/8/1829

The occupation of Father William is given as 'Blacksmith and Farmer' on both entries.

Looks like the entry for George was not recorded at the time of his baptism and added later.

Thank you Ann and Jonesey. The family you have found in 1841 matches the IGI family for William and Ann as I did have the extra children Henry and Harriett but was unable to see them in 1841 - Harriot, because she had changed the spelling of her name!
I have also been looking for William and Ann in 1851 but not seen any to match those ages yet?
