CRIPES_A_MIGHTY Report 2 Oct 2011 12:57

HI folks,

Could some kind person look up Alexander Forbes in the 1941 census.?

His wifes name is Alice..and should have 2 sons..Edward & William?

I believe he was born in 1811 in Liverpool...but may have come from Scotland..not sure.

Alice was born in Liverpool 1820...

I have them in my tree yet don't appear to have made note of them in the census.!
I don't believe Alice is in the 1851 census as she marries for a second time in early 51.
This could mean Alexander died sometime between 1841 & 51..I do not know. So do not know if they had any more children other than Edward & William...or even what happed to them after 1851.

Anyway...any details would be great!.

Thanks in advance.
Paul

Alice is my Grt Grandfathers sister...She married her sister Mary's husband, George Walkington in 1851. As Mary died in 1849.

Mary was the Grt Grandmother of Frederick Fleet, the lookout aboard the Titanic who spotted the iceberg..or not as the case maybe.

Thanks Ladies XXX

MarieCeleste Report 2 Oct 2011 13:19

Paul - it is interesting - because the same family is together in 1861, with Alexander alive and kicking!

There must be some wires crossed somewhere - either the 1851 (and 1861) families are entirely different (I don't think they are, myself).

Or, there are some flaws in your info. What was Alice's maiden name, and what was your ggrandfather's name and birth year?

The only way to sort it out is to buy some certificates, but we'll see what else we can find.

So, I think we can probably conclude that the 1841 & 1851 are probably NOT your Alice and Alexander as the occupation is way out and can be followed through later census. Quite a coincidence with the names - so easy to go down the wrong path.
