Actor, Preacher And Bigamist: Strange Life Story Revealed In Court
SYDNEY, July 30.
The strange life story of William An- drew Milne was revealed to the Chief Judge in Equity today when the trustees of his mother's estate sought a solu-
tion of certain difficulties. j The Chief Judge made an order giv ing the trustees leave to assume that Milne was dead and had died without leaving any children under 21. Milne was a son of Ann Nightingale, who died in 1899. leaving considerable property at Darlington. By her will she bequeathed to Milne a life interest 'in this property and he received the in come until he was killed in a railway accident in the United States in 1930. ?Tiro difficulty confronting the trustees was that the deceased beneficiary had been known as the "Rev. Scott Robert son." Under that name he had toured Australia with a dramatic company. He
had been an actor In America and bad married three times, twice bigamousfe. From a 'Synopsis of Sty Life" ta Wine's handwriting, which bad been found among his possessions. It ap peared that he was born In Ballarat. Victoria, vent to tbe United States j {when a young man. became an actor,; 'and after living in a reckless may was ! "converted." He founded the "Actors' Church." and adopted a clerical title and his mother's maiden name. It was by that name he continued to be known until he was killed at Harring ton Park. New Jersey. One of the women he bigamouMy married was tn an instilution for the insane. : "Ilie effect of the court's order Is that portion of the estate in which Milne (or Robertson) had a life interest will now be divided among other members i of Mrs. Nightingale's lamily.

Hopefully, it will cool down soon, & you will feel cooler.

Teresa, there is an article about Scott Robertson aka William Milne at

http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/45016602?searchTerm=scott%robertson%20bigamist&searchLimits=

if you have any problems getting onto this site, key trove in your search engine, when onto the site put scott robertson bigamist in the search bar, you will then see the article

It also says that he was killed in the U.S. in 1930, and that one of his wives was in a institution for the insane, could this possibly be Minnie.

Thats right and I am not far from where the hottest temps were recorded.

It would be cooler if I went to bed but my lounge has not cooled down and have no decent widows to open :-( I used to love hot weather but unfortunatly due to the condition I suffer from now I cannot cope with it anymore

I heard this morning our time, that England had its hottest October day on record - 29 degrees, is it still hot at this time of the morning? With us we should be getting warmer weather, but Thursday was 10 degrees, yesterday 12 degrees!!

This tree does not give any children apart from Ida.... but it does say that she married William Andrew Milne AKA Scott Robertson??

I have now found a story that he was a bigamist and a clergyman??? eyes are watering so I cannot read it properly :-D
