Very true what you say Helen. The other thing was that if a woman had been married and widowed, there didn't seem to be such a stigma if she had more children after husband's death. |

would like to add my lot were strict irish catholics as well so how/why she had illegitimate kids goodness knows but his death cert gives the same address and her as informant so there is no denying it :-( only thing i can think of she was so poor without the husbands wage she turned to the easiest way to earn quick money :-(( |

I know that these children were Hall's, as when she remarried, she had children with a 'Matthews' & they have his names. |

Hi Natalie, it's quite possible she had the children with someone else (perhaps the man she later married) and they would have been registered as Hall as that was her name. |
