Sara, I think the only way you can proceed is to order William Edwin Lambourne's birth cert (reference is above) - that will tell you who his mother is and we can go from there. |

Lots did not tell the truth, whether illegal or otherwise. |

Thanks for looking anyway - Im beginning to think they weren't really married. Is that a possibility or was it illegal to lie on a census? |

Looks like I might have been barking up the wrong tree with Sarah Lambourn being Williams mother. If anyone can help find a marriage between Shadrack (born in Didcot, Berks) and Elizabeth (born in Dudley Port, Staffs) sometime around 1877-1881 I would very much appreciate it. |

I've tried looking for Jane Lambourn(e) born Eynsham Oxfordshire about 1871 but she appears only on the 1891 census - a domestic servant to a clergyman in St Pancras. The only Jane Lambournes whose births were registered around that time were in Berkshire and Hampshire. |

I think this is your William's birth registration (Samuel also had the middle name Edwin): |

I've just checked the marriage index on FMP and can't find any marriage between Page & Lambourne between 1875 and 1888 |

I wonder whether her "Sunday name" was Sarah but she went as "Elizabeth", possibly her middle name? |

Any idea which registration district Victoria Dock comes under? |
