could anyone help me find a marriage for a Thomas Charles Allard born 1913.He was married to a Janet Louise Shelley in 1940 but on his death certificate it said his widow was a Maraget Ann.

I had trouble finding anything on Janet louise Shelley also. On the certificate it said her father was james Shelley.

What age did she give on the cert.?

Just had to find the certificate again. It said she was 20 so she should have been born in 1920

Thank you for the help. Thomas and Janet Allard were my husbands mother and father.He was put in shirley homes in croydon when he was a little boy by his mother.He came to australia in 1966 and we were married.I have been doing his tree for him and found out his father died in 1969 and thought that he might of had more children that could help my husband to find out more about his father.

Getting nowhere fast with this one!
No sign of a death for Janet or a second marriage for Thomas and the only record I can see for a Janet Shelley with father James is in the 1920/30 American census and I don't have access.
I thought that Janet may have married before marrying Thomas, but if her father's name on the cert. was Shelley, then that wouldn't be the case.

James Shelley was a soldier on the marriage certificate.how did you find out that Janet Shelley was born in Croydon?

She didnt marry before thomas as far as we know but she did have two girls before she married him.One was Pauline Shelley born 1939 my husbands half sister and one named colleen who I cant find either.

She is a bit of a phantom is Janet Shelley.I recon she lied about her age.

Jean is my husbands sister.I have a tree on here as do her kids.

I found a marriage between a ThomasC Allard and a Vera Jones in 1954 but then that doesnt match with his widow being Maraget Ann.

Yes he is her son.

I found Pauline's marriage.

Yes thanks Catherine. we found pauline when I first joined here.We went to England 2 years ago and met all her and Jeans kids.My husband had lost contact with Pauline so it was good to find her again. We had a lovely time with all his family only Jean had died a few years ago.Pauline didnt know anything about her mother either as she was also put in the home when John was.

Do you know if it is possible to get any records from the shirley homes in croydon.I know it is not there anymore but they must have kept records.
