Just for info RR & MaureeninNY & others.

I suspect that Arthur would have helped the collector emptying the gas meters. The householder would put money in the slot turn the key & the money would drop into a box below registering how much gas you could use for that amount of money.

I would guess that they were phased out during the 1970's

LOL PH, I am drowning in a sea of Fishlocks at the minute...why oh why are there 5 generations called William? so that it's very difficult to tell if J is the brother of this William born very late or brother to that William born very early.... :-S

Thankyou Eileen and Andy, that's right re Arthur on the 1901 ... I have had that piece of paper for about 4 years without being able to link Arthur to 'MY' Fishlocks...then by chance a will mentioned the Ann Farley living with him there...and that turned out to be the Ann who was the daughter of W Fishlocks second wife.... LOL!

I was just wondering that myself Maureen :-)

This is a new lead ( sideways lol) which goes to show the value of keeping all those scraps of paper with scribbles on about 'unrelated' people...who then turn out to be!
