Thank you for that information.

I'm not sure, but think this might not be a RC marriage.
( I know Henry's daughter was not RC )... so will pass your information to OH to follow up.

Many thanks.

1845-1863 there was only civil registration for non-catholic marrs. If this were the case, I`ld guess that the church regos matched those sent to the GRO(I). However, I`ld guess this was an RC marr, so what was in the OPR is pretty much up to the priest. I`ve never seen Irish RC OPRs, but they can be quite detailed in some jurisdictions.

Re. Choccy's find of the 1863 marriage in Cork......

.....Would the actual parish register have more details about William ROONEY, father of the groom and if so how do I obtain a copy, ...or do I need a registered certificate.?

The GRO(I) index thru 1958 (excl N. Ireland post-partition) is available at:
https://www.familysearch.org/s/collection/list#page=1®ion=EUROPE

One can purchase certs (or cheaper still, the uncertified images of the rego) via:
http://www.groireland.ie/

The Irish 1901/1911 censuses are free at:
http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/search/
[Not heard of any release dates for next census (=1926 in both Irelands)]

Most City of Dublin parish registers are free online at:
http://www.irishgenealogy.ie/
[There are also Carlow, Cork & Kerry OPRs there too]

The above FS link will lead to Choccy's baptisms too. For US census, use
https://www.familysearch.org/s/collection/list#page=1®ion=NORTH_AMERICA

The record's linked to the image in US 1900.
The 1890 was 99.9% destroyed by fire, and there's not enough source info to find the 1910 without going real geeky.
For 1920 (sim 1930) look up at:
http://www.archive.org/details/1920_census
The last 3 digits of the LDS film # match those of the NARA reel #.
Guess an image # (it's 900 in 1910) - look up a name on that image and adjust your guess.

Here's the geek-free 1910
http://www.archive.org/stream/13thcensus1910po587unit#page/n900/mode/1up
Note both families are at 28, Upham St, Salem.

Choccy and Maureen,

Thank you so much for this extra information.
I have left my husband to delve into this Irish side and now the information is coming so fast.
This week he has found another ROONEY descendant in Australia and has been able to put 2 cousins in their 90s in touch with each other, after a lifetime of not knowing of the other's existance,, so e mails between them are going back and forth thick and fast.

What a week.
Many, many thanks.

Hi Gwyn,

Sorry-breakfast dishes were calling me!

I was a little worried about Henrietta's age on the various US census, but I think she was just chopping off years to appear as young as her husband!!!

Sadly,it looks as though Henry James has died by 1920.

Margee...... So sorry.
It was YOUR find of the census..... It's getting too exciting here after a very long lull with this family.

Very many thanks for that great lead. OH is following it up right now.

Yes, yes ! .... I have just come back upstairs after telling OH of your previous find...and now there's more.
This is absolutely great. Husband is delighted, thank you.

I only had a quick look at the marriage outline and didn't notice the bride's mother's details.
She was indeed Sarah Jane, so that all looks really good.

We don't have any further information on Henry James, so it looks very much as if you found him too.

Many thanks.

Hmmm...on the 1910 census there's a Henry J Rooney age 36 listed right before the Henshaws,so maybe not the right Henrietta then.??

Maureen

Edit: Or maybe it is-going by the Old Family search she does seem to have a brother Henry James!!!

Thank you... That looks a really good lead, as Henrietta's father was Henry !

I will pass the information on to my husband, who has been burning the midnight oil this last week tracking this family after he got a small lead and one thing led to another.
