AmazingGrace08 Report 29 Aug 2011 03:41

Oh how sad...what a waste of beautiful lives, I hope that they never felt a thing...and the poor mother trying desperately to find them in the rubble...brings tears to my eyes at the thought...

Thank you for posting the additional information and the link...

here is a link that tells you all about what happened on that sad day

and i little info that iv copyed and past

About a week later, one of the biggest funerals in London was held for these infants. It was a sad day. Fifteen children were buried in a mass grave at the East London Cemetery, while the other three children had private graves. Brothers and sisters of the children looked on with mournful faces, some having also been in the school at the time of the bombing.

That is great...maybe could you locate a community newsletter or church group etc in the town where they came from..they may be able to place a notice and you might be able to find some more families that way.

Poor little things how awful for them

Poor little children, hope that you manage to contact everyone, it is very kind of you Shelly....

Several people have these names on their trees on here, so it would be easy to contact them.

A lovely idea, so they know that their ancestors were remembered.

I'm wondering whether Alfred Batt (aged 5) was the son of Alfred and Phoebe Batt who married in 1905.

At the time of the 1911 Census they were living at Berkshire so it may not be the same family.
