Hi

Sorry this is so long but I thought I would give you all the information that I have

I was going to put this post on find living relatives but after reading the first post changed my mind.

I would love to find any information on my grandfathers siblings marriages and their children if it is at all possible. I have some marriages but not all and would love know their children if possible so I can maybe make contact with them, My grandfather emmigrated to Australia in 1920's but I don't know what happened to the rest of his siblings or death dates etc

All the information I have on them is as follows
BACKGROUND
Great grandfather - George Sim born Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire abt 1839 son of John Sim born 1787 Pitsligo and Jean (Jane) Sim born abt 1800 Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire
George married Jane Johnson born abt 1845 Burnhaven, Peterhead, Aberdeenshire in Peterhead in 1864, daughter of William Johnston born abt 1817 Aberdeenshire and Catherine Yule born abt 1819 Peterhead.

In the 1871 census George and Jane along with some children were living in Hebburn Quay, South Shields. In the 1891 census they livied at 38 Zante St Kirkdale, Liverpool and in the 1911 census Mother and children (Florence and Mary) lived with Thomas (son) at 21 Mitylene St Kirkdale, Lancashire
Children are as follows

William Sim born abt 1864 - Durham England married Jane Jones 1889 West Derby

George born abt 1869 - Durham England married Ann Greer in 1899 (I think)

John Sim born abt 1866 Durham England

Mina Lily Sim born abt 1877 Lancashire, England married Attilo Verona in 1901 - had 2 children William and Margherita,
Margherita married Albert Bingham and had daughter Norma who married Laurence Kingsbury and had son Rodney Kingsbury.
William married Marjorie Easton and had son Donald Verona

Florence Sim born abt 1887 Lancashire, England married George Smith in 1914

Mary Eleanor Sim born abt 1880 Lancashire, England married John Widdowson in 1912

Jessie Sim born abt 1876, Lancashire England

Catherine Jane Sim born abt 1873 Lancashire England married John Hitchen in 1899

Thomas Johnstone Sim born abt 1885 Lancashire England married Mary Jane Bell in 1913

Annie C Sim born abt 1876 Liverpool married Alfred Butcher in 1898

James (my grandfather)born abt 1871 Durham, England and emmigrated to Australia after his second marriage to Beatrice Deakin had my uncle George and my father Thomas

Thanks so much
Kerryn

My only problem with all the information is that I have no idea which,if any, you have found on 1911 census

George and Jane you appear to have found in 1911 with Florence and Mary and Thomas

Sorry updated my post

First things first! Although there is a Scottish background I see the search focuses on England really, at least to start with. Have you looked for children of the above marriages on Freebmd?

www.freebmd.org.uk

And also, have you looked for matches with other members by putting names into Search trees box above?

I have been searching trees for quiet a while now but don't seem to find the right ones, and yes I have been trying to find births on free bmd

Thanks Kerryn

I found Jane living with son and 2 daughters in 1911 - I assume George had died by then

Kerryn, I see you have a tree on Ancestry, so is there any point us going any further looking for marriages, births etc., assuming you are still a member on there?

Kerrynk Report 11 May 2011 11:02

No I don't still have a tree on ancestry at the moment - too many relations had access to it and it got wrecked. I am not sure if you can still see anything on there but I did delete it about a month ago
Thanks Kerryn

I see Florence married in Liverpool. As you have probably discovered there are no obvious births on Freebmd, unless they moved quite a way off which is impossible to say.

This is the only birth in a reasonable timescale and it's in Hampshire:

Births Jun 1915 (>99%)

thanks so much Jan - I had George as marrying Ann Greer but it may be ann Green. I got it off another member. Do you think this is wrong? 1899 may have been my fingers! :S

Yes I did have the 1881 census (somewhere) As I now do all this on my laptop it sometimes gets confusing. I may rejoin Ancestry again and see what pops up there. Do you think that is worth it?

I have had such a hard time with my grandfathers siblings. My husbands side was much easier. In those days they could have emmigrated anywhere and that makes it harder to find. I have found a few names in America/Canada but can't say for sure that it is one of them.

I am also thinking of upgrading my gr membership to include 1911 it may make things much easier as well.

You have been wonderful. Have a great day
Kerryn :-)
