re the 1851 census record for Lydia Brearley and John. I think this is John. Benjamin and Lydia did have a son called John born 1917. There is an IGI extract for him birth 2nd Jan 1817 Christening 1817 Penistone Yorkshire

re marriage of Mary to Thomas Hindmarsh, there is a death Register Index entry for Mat Hindmarsh as follows
Death Register 1897 June Quarter Salford District vol 8d pg 83 - age 57

We have a Samuel Hudson in our tree, who married an Ellen Hudson in 1865, Samuel's Father was Joseph Hudson, who was listed as a button manufacturer. They lived in Sheffield. Ellen Hudson's mother was Ann. Cannot find any connection with your family yet, but we do have a Benjamin in the tree and you are very welcome to look at that.
