Sorry if you have to re-read this thread.
Could I still ask for help finding Ann Teresa Conroy (1828 maiden name Phillipson) in the 1871 and 1881 census and also a marriage for her I still can't seem to find her. I did wonder if she may have been somewhere in Ireland as all the Conroys I have found seem to have come from there.
I have today received her death cert states as follows:
Date of Death: 11th April 1910 Age: 82 Occupation: widow of William Conroy a wood turner. Informant: A. F. Phillipson
The informant is the person she is living with on the 1901 census.
Thank you for taking the time to look.

Re-read indeed. ;)
Staffslass, do you have the Phillipson-Robinson marriage certificate?
I think you need it. There's a reasonable chance they were cohabiting in 1881 and it would be very useful to have George's personal details from the certificate -- age, father's name, occupation -- and any addresses on it.
Then we could find him before the marriage and look for him after.
There's no death of a George Peter Robinson in the GRO index up to when he would have been an advanced age. And the 1877 marriage is his first appearance in the indexes, i.e. no previous marriage.
I wonder whether he might have been from Canada or some such? Do we know why the daughter ended up in BC?

Hang on, Chrisa posted this:
1891 England Census about Ann Conroy Name: Ann Conroy Age: 63 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1828 Relation: Servant Where born: Essex, England
Civil parish: Folkestone
Hold on, I'm just hopelessly confused. I'm looking at Ann "Terence" and Geo Peter Robinson in 1891.
The ATP who married Robinson is not the ATP who became Conroy.
I wish we'd just left that other one out of this thread!
So we have Ann Teresa Phillipson 1828 missing in 1871 and 1881 and turning up as Conroy in 1891 and shown as married, and allegedly the widow of William Conroy when she dies in 1910.
One suspects a partnership without marriage, since by 1861 both she and Conroy would have been over 30 and there's a good chance he had been previously married ...

Thanks for looking again Janey, it was after 11pm here and I had been up since 5am so had gone to bed.
I wondered the same if she just used the name and had not really married, I had even checked to see if I could find a marriage for a William Conroy to either an Ann or Teresa or combination of those names at the right time couldn't find one.
Shame the one you posted in Staffordshire wasn't the right one because it would have fitted nicely with the catholic side of the family and people being nuns.
Looks like this could be one of the unanswered questions.
