Victor

Thankyou. Still searching for ancestors prior to William Barnacle born 1761. Any suggestions?

Sylvia
Yes that was my G Grandfather Edward Barnacle returning to England in 1907. It appears that Lynne found them under Barnaile in the 1911 census. He owned the Cock Inn at 33 Jiggins Lane Bartley Green Birmingham. I have been able to get a picture of it from Google Earth.

Victor

Thankyou. William Barnacle 1761-1834 is my 3G Grandfather.
Can you confirm that the spelling was actually Barnacle and not Barnicle. What site can you get this info from??
My GG Grandfather Joseph Barnacle who died 2.2.1879 and G Grandfather Edward Barnacle who died 7.8.1912 are also buried at the Holy Trinity Church I believe.

John Barnacle

Lynne

Thankyou.
In 1938 my grandfather Walter John and his second wife Elsie had a trip to England. They lived in Rocklea Brisbane and their house was flooded in the 1931 and 1974 floods. The house is no longer there but would have been flooded again in the floods earlier this year.

Cheers
John Barnacle

Thankyou. Edward was born in 1850 so he would have been 48. My grandfather Walter John was 14. The ship was the Orizaba - Plymouth to Sydney. Then the Aramac Sydney to Brisbane 12.1.1899.
Is there a free passenger list site available??
I have a 2008 findmypast list that used to be free but isnt now.

Does this mean that he left his wife behind and said he was single when he went to Australia?

Sylvia Lynne Potty

Thankyou. 1901 census - where was Edward ??
Fortunately for me Edward and my grandfather Walter John aged 14 migrated to Australia in 1898. Edward owned three hotels in Brisbane from 1899 to 1901. I wish we still had them ! He returned to England in 1902. After he died in 1912 Elizabeth migrated to Australia in 1914.
Lynne thankyou for the advice re email.

John Barnacle

The information Sylvia has posted for you is from the LDS (Mormon) site and using the batch and film nos from it, you can order the film of the original register to view at a LDS Family History Centre. This site:

http://www.familysearch.org/eng/library/fhc/frameset_fhc.asp

will help you find one.

SylviaInCanada Report 15 Apr 2011 07:51

As regards your ancestors, that site I gave you has the entries taken from the Parish Records ..... and probably is going to be as close as you can get to seeing them, without going there.

As you may be able to tell from my board name, I do not live in England, and I am fairly sure that Lynne does not either!

That site is easy to use ............ and it as easy for YOU to use it and find the information as it would be for us to do it, and then post the information on here.

This is NOT a safe site, and your email address is quite likely to appear soon on google!
