Now, there is a John E Wood marriage in Wellington in 1953. This would fit well with your JEW. (It is not yet transcribed at FreeBMD; found at Ancestry.) There's an error in either the GRO or the Ancestry index that messes up the matching, but I identified the wife. I checked the electoral roll at 192.com but they do not appear on it together in the last 10 years.

There appears to be only one birth to that marriage (fortunately the wife's name is uncommon).
- edit - if you search trees for the wife's name with no other info, she is first on the list of results in family trees here at GR

If I'm correct that you are looking for info about John E Wood and family, just add a post to confirm and I will send you that info privately.

Actually, it appears that the child married in the place where Gladys Wood died. There are two births that could be to that marriage. ... But it seems the child may have remarried later. The remarried couple was on the electoral roll but only some time ago.

It may well be possible to locate someone in that family, so let us know if that is what you want to try to do.

I suspect that Cherrie Wood's husband George Elcock remarried after her 1939 death:

Marriages Dec 1940
Edge Marion S Elcock Shrewsbury 6a 2279
Elcock George Edge Shrewsbury 6a 2279

Name: Marion Sara Elcock
Birth Date: 9 Nov 1914
Death Registration Month/Year: 1982
Registration district: Shrewsbury
Inferred County: Shropshire
Volume: 30
Page: 0444

There are three births to that marriage. All are male, which makes tracing that much easier; all three are on the electoral roll.

Those three are the children of the widower of Cherrie Mary Wood. And -- all three are in the family trees of members of this website, one of whom is one of the children.

I'm just going to go ahead and PM you some info.

I see you read my PM some time ago Elizabeth.

Elizabeth, have you considered replying to my posts here and the private message I sent you, both full of information that should help you, and both having taken quite a bit of my time?

Elizabeth has replied that she is confused by the information and is trying to sort it out. I hope you do manage, Elizabeth -- I don't think I could organize it any more simply, unfortunately. ;)

Edward Wood and Olive Latham do seem to have had three children:
Mary E 1929
John E 1930
Margaret A 1940

There are marriages in Wellington for the names John E Wood (I have sent you all the details) and also, I now see, for Margaret E Wood. I will send you those details as well ... I hope not just to confuse you more!

I have sent Elizabeth a summary; the "..."s stand for names or dates that are too recent to put here.

The summary of what I have found -- the information I am quite confident about but can't be certain off, because only birth certificates will show who people's parents were, for instance.

Edward Casewell Wood
married
Olive Gladys Latham

Their three children were

1. Mary E Wood born 1929 Newport Sh
2. John E Wood born 1930 Newport Sh
3. Margaret A Wood born ... Wellington Sh
(I'm sorry Elizabeth, I mistyped it as "Margaret E"; it's "Margaret A")

1. Mary E Wood is your mother.

2. John E Wood married Evelyn R Brinkworth 1953 Wellington Sh
- Their child is ...
- child may have married twice, to
...
...
- There are several possible births to those marriages but no way to be certain without certificates.

3. Margaret A Wood married Derek Crockett ...
- Margaret's husband Derek died in 1992 and I can't find her after that (remarriage or death or definite match on the electoral roll)
- their children are
...
...
- son (and his wife ... and children ... ) and daughter ... both seem to be living in or around Middlesbrough on the 2011 electoral roll, but I can't find addresses or phone numbers

John E Wood's child and Margaret A (Wood) Crockett's children are your first cousins.

Meanwhile, I gave you information about Cherrie Mary Wood, sister of Edward Casewell Wood, as you had requested in your thread:

- married George Elcock, had no children
- Cherry Mary (Wood) Elcock died in 1939
- George Elcock remarried in 1940 to Marion S Edge (they have both died now)
- George Elcock had 3 childen with his new wife (in the 1940s):
...
...
...

- those three children are the children of Cherrie Mary Wood's widower George Elcock, so they are not related to you, but they may be acquainted with the family of George Elcock's first wife, Cherrie Mary Wood.
- they are all in the family trees of members of GenesReunited -- all you do is search trees (the button up at the top) for the surname Elcock, born in Shrewsbury in 1945 +/- 5 years. Then you can contact the people with them in their trees.

I realize that the problem with all this is that while there is now a lot of information about Mary E Wood's brother and sister and their families, we have not yet found a way to contact them.
