Hi I'm trying to find Emily Bowles I think her birth is June 1890 Ton/Tunbridge Kent Vol 2a page 678. but then she dissapears I'm trying to work out who her parents are and where she went as I can't find her on census. My Granadad called her Auntie Em so she may have been half sister to hi mother

Just spoke to my Auntie who said she married Fred Burchett 1912 Cranbrook vol 2a page 1987( allready looked that one up but wasn't sure if correct)

Her mother was probably Rosa neeTaylor 1st marriage Moore 2nd marriage Bowles

If this is Rosa's marriage, then Emily would have been 11yrs old so may have been born with surname Moore

OK Rosa Taylor and Richard Mannering Moore and Rosa Taylor and Stephen Bowles are correct. but where is Emily in 1901 census ?????

Maddie thanks for that but I allready have it that's what's confusing me Where is Emily, not on 1901 census or 1911. I know she was around as my Aunt can remember my grandad talking about her and calling her Auntie Em

What makes you think she was born 1890 ?

Her age should be on her marriage certificate.

Did she have a middle name ?
Could this be her ?

haven't got marriage cert but Auntie told me she married Fred Burchett so did lookup fopund it Dec 1912 Cranbrook vol 2a page 1987 I got her birth year from another member who is related to Stephen Bowles and found a birth for Emily Bowles June 1890 Tunbridge or Tonbridge Vol 2a page 678 . I also know she was older than my Grandad as he lodged with her as a young man

So your DOB for Emily is based on finding a birth in the name of Bowles ?

But she wouldn't have been Bowles - not then anyway - not if Rosa was her mother.

Think you need to start from what you know.
Get her marriage cert, work out her age, see who she names as her father ( maybe step-father) and THEN find the correct birth which will tell you if Rosa was her mother.

Julie - do you have any idea as to when and where she died (presuming she remained as a Burchett)?

she did stay as a a Burchett as mu Auntie knew Emily and Freds daughter but no one can work out the family connection ???? that generation is so much older and they don't like talking about it when there's illegitimate babies involved allthough my Auntie is in her 80's and wants to know
