Yes, I would buy the Florence Selina Russell birth cert.
It will either have mother as Mrs Russell formerly something else, or if it just says Russell with no maiden name then it looks like she was unmarried.

I get the Russell bit now. I have Florence Selina's marriage cert showing name as Cook but I guess she could have just taken on her mother's husband's surname when she married him. If I get the Florence Selina Russell's birth cert 1902 presumably this will show maiden name of her mother and if it is Russell then looks as if you've answered it. It's all fascinating and frustrating too! Thank you again and I'll let you know what I uncover.

Tina, it's speculation at this point.

There is no Albert J Cook birth for 1900
and none for Edwrad John Cook in 1903.

There are however births with those christian names but with surname Russell.

There is also a Florence Selina Russell birth in 1902

It's possible that they were born to mother Florence before she married Albert James Cook..... so maybe she was Florence Russell who married A. J. Cook in 1914

Just realised I have made an error in previous message. I am of course looking for Florence Selina Cook's mother's name. Not maiden name as I have written. I've checked a possible Peachey for her mother's maiden name. I'm so embarrassed to have made things even more confusing. Sorry.

I don't quite see where the "Russell" connection comes in with a birth in 1902 and a marriage in 1914? As shown by Maureen. I know that Florence Selina Cook married a Townshend on 17.1.1925. I am looking for Florence Selina Cook's maiden name and I have checked a possible Peachey maiden name as shown by Eveie, but the Florence Peachey I can find on the censuses was still single in 1911, so don't think this is the one because she (mother also Florence) must have married James Albert (or Albert James) well before as they had seven children by that date. Please excuse me if I'm being a nuisance and thank you again. Tina

Hello Patchem. No sorry do not have exact dob for Florence. Marriage cert on 17th Jan 1925 shows age as 22, so she would have 23 during that year, making her birth year as 1902. (unless she had a birthdate between 1st and 17th Jan. in which case she would have been born in 1903). 1911 census shows her age as 8, making her birth year 1903 (not sure what month census is carried out though, so perhaps her birthdate was between 1st and 17th Jan?? Sorry cannot be more definite, have been unable to find any birth registered for her. Thanks for all help. Tina
