I am trying to find out when my father: was born, who his mother's maiden name was.

I do know that he died in 2008 and was married to morton in 1970.

The records only go up to 2005, how am I able to retrieve the information to continue with my tree?

Gee Report 9 Mar 2011 18:02

How old was he when he died? You should be able to get the death cert from the local reg office if you have details

Failing that, do you know his mothers maiden name?

I think you need his marriage cert for his age as there are a few similar births

Did he or his wife have middle names?

Do you have him as 1936 Northumberland? and his wife 1943 Tynemouth?

I am not sure of how old he was when he died, but he died in 2008, around february time.
He was married to Sylvia Morton who was born in Tynemouth.
They were married in 1970.
Brian has the following siblings: Eva, Norman, Leslie, Ronald, and Isabella was my grandma.
Brian had no middle name, and as far as I am aware of Sylvia does not either.
I am not a hundred percent if Brian was born in 1936 or 1951, but I do know that Sylvia was born 27 October 1946.

Barbara, most who help are not related, if you want to build your tree you need to buy certs, which have been found for you.

Thomas Newton Bewick's WW1 record is on Ancestry
It states his next of kin to be Bessie Newton Bewick (mother)
15 Freeholds West Cranlington

tempest

tempest Report 13 Mar 2011 20:33

"Cranlington" will be Cramlington, here's the 1911 census -

Address: 2 Paddock Hall West Cramlington Cramlington

Name Relation Condition/ Yrs married Sex Age Birth Year Occupation Where Born

BEWICK, Bessie Head Widow F 37 1874 Cramlington Northd
BEWICK, Thomas Son M 13 1898 Whaler Cramlington Northd
BEWICK, Elizabeth Jane Blanche Daughter F 6 1905 Newcastle Northd

says 3 children born to marriage, 2 still living in 1911, 1 has died

tempest

tempest Report 13 Mar 2011 20:39

a possible on 1901 census

BEWICK, Robert Joseph Head Married M 43 1858 Gardener Morpeth Northumberland
BEWICK, Bessie Wife Married F 27 1874 Cramlington Northumberland

Sorry pressed delete instead of edit
He joined in December 1915 aged21 living at 16 bluebell row cramlington

I don't think the 1901 census is the correct one as the 1911 states 3 children born 2 living

tempest

tempest Report 13 Mar 2011 21:11

looking at the 1901 and 1911 census I thought that Bessie on the 1911 could be the widow of Robert Joseph shown on the 1901,

they had Thomas 1898, John Edward 1900 and Elizabeth Jane Blanche in 1905 ........ John Edward maybe being the deceased child on 1911??

Both Thomas and Bessie's years and places of birth match up

I think Ethel 1888 and Robert 1890 on the 1901 could be Bessie's step children ie from Robert Joseph's first marriage

Bewick is not too common a name and Cramlington was not a large place at the time

Quoy

Quoy Report 14 Mar 2011 05:15

Robert Bewick wed

The amount of money that it would cost to purchase birth/marriage/death certs would be too much for me, which is why i am using GenesReunited as a basis to begin my search.

A big thanks for you help
