I am trying to find the birth of Arthur Kitchin my Great Great Grandad

I have his marriage certificate to Mary Elizabeth Tappenden on 20th Feb 1906 in London, and his death cert on 12th August 1948 age 66 years, registered at his son Arthurs house in Essex. His home adress adress at time of death was Estcout road Fullham

He must have been born aprox in 1882 and was married and lived in London all his life.

I have a wedding cert which may be his parents William Kitchin and Sarah Speed married in 1774 and have traced the line back to 1841.

I am trying to find his birth to confirm his parents are the correct ones I have.

It says that Wiliam Kitchin is his Father on the wedding certificate. and Williams occupation is Bricklayer

Can you just clarify the marriage you think may be his parents because you say the wedding took place in 1774 and he was born approx 1882. Is 1774 a typo or have you jumpe a generation without realising?

The spelling is different but I have found them on the 1891 census with a spelling of Kitchen as well

Maddie, thanks that the cert I have got, the spelling could be Kitchin or Kitchen, on all the certs I have the spelling is slightly different but I do know that Arthur Kitchin who died in 1948 is correct because my Uncle remembers him and the funeral.

I wonder why Arthur had two baptism records?
That will be worth looking into.

Could it have been to appease parents/families from different/opposing religions. Maybe parents did both, each being secret from the other's side?

Or it could be good old boring clerical error notation.
