I think you need to buy Albert's marriage certificate to see if he gives his father's name and occupation.

The military records that MarieCeleste has already mention say that Albert's mother was Mrs. Mary Townhill, 23 (maybe 25) New Town Street. They also say that he had a younger brother William and a younger sister Lilian.

So now I am thinking that Bertie Buddle may well be our Albert John
Townhill.

Hi my name is alice i'm researching my grandparents Albert john townhill- alice maud o'dell. I have recently obtained their marriage certificate.THEY WERE MARRIED ON 24 JULY 1906 Dover register office.Albert John Townhill was 26 and was a drummerin the 1st Battalion The Buffs [ residence Citadel Barracks Dover Kent ] I t gives his fathers name as Robert Townhill [deceased ].He was an army pensioner. Alice Maud O'dell was 22 and lived at 45 Limekiln st Dover Kent. Her fathers name was John O'dell [ Deceased] He is listed as an army pensioner. That is all the information i have apart from their children my aunts and uncles . If this is Albert's mother then he was born before she married.

Thank you for your reply .re. Albert John Townhill, my mum did say that he was born in Canterbury Kent.I KNOW THAT HE WAS 69 when he died in november 1946 he is intered in St Marys cemetary in Dover Kent.My grandmother Alice Maud Townhill was also 69 when she died in April 1950 . alice
