Hi Mary.

Cecilia Lubbock is definitely my GG Grandmother her partner was the Thomas Richardson that I have being trying to find out about - looking most likely now to be born 1851 per the 1851 census info above.

I dont think they ever got married - possibly as someone suggested before he was already married?!?!? I was hoping to find their marriage to confirm his father's name, but I think I will try ordering possible birth certificates instead.

Thanks
Karen

But if you order a possible birth certificate all you will know is that you have a birth cert of "A" Thomas Richardson, with no proof that he is yours.

I am hard pushed to think how you can pursue this further.

My only suggestion is you buy the birth cert of the first child, and hope it gives an occupation for him, that you can tie up with Thomas pre-marriage, cos so far we have him with 3 occupations.

Karen, it would have been far better to have continued your Lubbock thread than start a new one. I would have then known that you already had the birth cert of one of the children given her name as Lubbock.

Hi thanks for your suggestion, it is going to be hard to tie up, I think you are right.

I started on the Richardson thread so that if anyone else in future gets stuck in the same place as me, it will be here. I did mention my Lubbock thread, but this is really about the Richardsons I think?!?!?!

Anyway, I appreciate yours and everyone else's help
Kind regards
Karen

For reference

I ordered possible death certificates for Thomas Richardson, all I knew was
that he died after 1916 but before 1924. I found one where a Thomas died 2nd June 1922 aged 72 in Lambeth and the death certificate showed heart disease and an inquest held.

My gran had told me a story that she knew he had a heart attack while mowing the lawn. I then got hold of a newspaper report from the Norwood press June 10th 1922 which showed the inquest details and it backed up my Grans story and also mentioned his daughter Emily. I can now ascertain that this is my Thomas and he was born 1850.

This also means that the earlier census records that you have kindly given me are most likely him and his parents&step parents, which will help me on my way to finding his ancestors

Thanks again for your help
Karen
