Many years ago, I lived up Shirland and was familiar with many of the families from Stonebroom. In fact the Whetton Family are still going strong today. |

I used the free Mormon LDS set - then used their advanced search facility and just put in "Stonebroom" in location and got the censuses for the village for years on end - had never tried that way before but it does give a picture of all the families who were born in that village - lt me know if you want details of the search site |

I used the 1841 address search on Find my Past Ann. Makes life so much easier. Once Terence had given us the name Whetton and I had located that family in the census then the rest were easy to find. |

Here we go. It's much easier with a name to work on. These families are listed as living in Stonehouse Shirland in 1841. The image is very faint and I think it says Stonebroom and not Stonehouse which is why it didn't show in an address search. |

well hope I haven't overloaded you - those are just some of the different surnames in Stonebroom in the 1800's - could be more but I got a bit cross eyed after a while - there are 41879087 people on th census in Stonebroom |
