Hi i'm looking for any information on John Henry Stephens born around 1877, fathers name also John Stephens. Unsure of where he was born possibly portsmouth, plymouth or swansea. He married a Margaret Jane Williams in 1918 in tabernacle chapel in pontardawe. He was a widower at the time and worked as a rigger in the nickle works. I know theres not a lot of info to go on, but anything would be great
thanks

From Bethans other thread

yes please. it was actually my great grand dad. his name was john henry stephens, he married my great nan margaret jane williams in 1918. he was 41 and listed as a widower. unfortunately i dont know much about him. his birth place is uncertain. but at the time of marrying my great nan he was living in clydach, swansea. i hope this is ok for you. just really want to find out some things about his first wife as i met an elderley relative when i was about 10 and he mentioned my nan had sisters... which my dad knew mothing about. i would like to find out if this is true. thanks

Bethan

Bethan Report 22 Dec 2010 00:05

im not sure if this is them as johns listed as a rigger at the local nickel works. his father (also named john) was listed as a dock yard labourer ...... its all very confusing......

jax

jax Report 22 Dec 2010 00:12

People dont always keep the same occupation throughout their lives especially if they move areas. If his father worked on the docks it is very likely his son followed in the same line of work
