The birth that Lindsey found for Ada Lily Workman was the only one I could find that matches your family. I would buy this certificate to see who the parents are. I don't think you will find her mothers maiden name without a certificate.

I see Ada is not in the workhouse - but I have no idea where she is....?
I cant understand why I cant find her.... unless she is with grandparents?

Havent yet got birth cert as there are a few Ada Workman births at that time and need a bit more investigating before I can determine the correct one - but I have got her marriage cert to James Nash in 1919 Dursley
and it shows her father as Joseph Workman farm labourer deceased.

I am trying to 'play deective' and work out who her mum was and the only Joseph Workman marriage that I could see was to a Sarah Ann Workman - so here I am today, looking for more info........

So - cant possible be the same Sarah Ann & Jospeh that you found in 1881......

I am trying to find out whether Sarah Ann Workman ( the one who DOES marry Joseph Workman ) - had been married before ??

Also, I am struggling to find Sarah Ann Workman in any census prior to her marriage to Joseph . I know that Joseph dies in 1897 and I am trying to find out as much as I can about them both - but not having much luck.... the name 'workman' is common in the area. ...

I believe that Sarah may have had a daughter - Ada Lily Workman in 1899 - after Josephs death .....but Im not sure as I cant find Ada in the 1901 census - I have an Ada Lily Workman, born Wooton Under Edge, Dursley, Glos as my grandmother and need to find out where she was as a child
