	I think the word widow was crossed out on the 1841 census because they weren't supposed to give marital status on that census,

	The only problem, Jackie, is that you will never know who your Joseph's father was, if she was a widow in 1841 and he was born 1851!

	Hi Jacqueline, Births Mar 1844 (>99%) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Salt Adelaide W Bromwich 18 626 Could be your Marys daughter.....getting the birth certificate would give you a fathers name. Regards Vera

	On the 1841 Susannah Swinston and Mary Salt....where occupation is it states both are widows.....although the word widow on both has been crossed out. Regards Vera
