Hi Jacqueline,
Do you know who Mary Ann Salt born 1837 married?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 12 Dec 2010 20:38

I think the word widow was crossed out on the 1841 census because they weren't supposed to give marital status on that census,

The only problem, Jackie, is that you will never know who your Joseph's father was, if she was a widow in 1841 and he was born 1851!

Hi Jacqueline,

Births Mar 1844 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Salt Adelaide W Bromwich 18 626

Could be your Marys daughter.....getting the birth certificate would give you a fathers name.

Thank you Vera and Margaret for all of your help, I can now fill in some gaps. You are both magic I had looked for hours but am reasonably new to this game, and only have the census records and google as my search paths. So thank you very much.

Yes it was, thats amazing, I wonder if Suzanah Swinston was Marys mother , as that was her daughters name too. This is getting so exciting. I read John at the bottom as a 7 year old?? and couldnt read the other!!
