Could be your Marys daughter.....getting the birth certificate would give you a fathers name.

The only problem, Jackie, is that you will never know who your Joseph's father was, if she was a widow in 1841 and he was born 1851!

I think the word widow was crossed out on the 1841 census because they weren't supposed to give marital status on that census,
