There is a Desiree J Melson showing on old electoral rolls on Ancestry.

Desiree is the more common spelling.

Might be worth getting the birth certificate to confirm the spelling and see whether she was adopted or not.

the spelling of Launton, Somerset could be Taunton in which case you could be looking for Williton,Somerset.

Pauline has all the other details for the two remarriages. One of the births I sent is her hubby and she is trying to find when his mum died as he was fostered out.
Have sent a possible death altho the age is out ,not unknown tho as she may have docked a few years off her age.
Plus one of the other births IS a brother and unfortunaely he seems to have died in 2006. have sent his marriage and children with a poss marriage for one of them plus info on finding her on www.192.com for electoral roll info.

At the moment I dont think anyone needs to do anymore look ups for this query. (just to save you all looking) :-D

Oh, silly me.........didn't check as carefully as I should have.......I'd had a long day!

Pauline really needs the marriage cert..........................although, of course, we aren't sure what she's actually looking for................

Does she, I wonder, know of the probable second marriages for the couple?

Flick,

That would make her 12 when she married in 1927. The 1908 one Shirley posted seems more likely.

I think the 1911 request is a red herring............this looks like the birth of the woman who married

You say, Pauline, that you have been 'looking for 10 years'....in that time, have you obtained the Steele/Melson marriage cert?

Unlikely that anyone actually 'knows' these people.......they are almost certainly dead.

Someone on GR may be related to them, and have some information........try looking for the names in search trees.......above the board in dark green

What is your connection to Elsie Steele? What are you trying to find out?
