Find Ancestors

Fell, having great difficulty in locating in 1881,1891 & 1901 a George Fell born Leeds 1870-6, father Frederick a bricklayer.
I have George in 1911 only.
Can anyone help?

where is he in 1911 and how old is he? 1870-76 is a bit vague. Was he with a wife and children?

Please, Lynda, don't just tell us *you* have him in 1911 and make us go looking for what his details are in that census. Some of us (like me) don't subscribe for 1911 details, but if you provide them it will help with earlier searches.

Can you not find his birth at FreeBMD? If you can't find him in earlier censuses, where does the birthdate range come from? What does the 1911 say? Is he married, and what age does his marriage certificate say? Assuming you have it, for the father's info. Is there conflict between the marriage certificate and the age in 1911?

Etc. It doesn't help for you to know things if you don't offer them!

That's the only George Fell born in Leeds 1873 +/- 3 years I find in the 1911!

If that is him, it could certainly help to know where he was in 1911.

11th July 1931 George marries Emily Giddings nee Connew and gives his age as 58 yrs and dies 7th June 1935 where his age is given as 65yrs! I do have both his marriage & his death certificates.
As I have said the only strong information of his place of birth is from the 1911 census. My gut feeling is that George was born in 1876 but I am finding researching him too difficult! Thanks for taking the time to read this & for your replies so far.

Have you all checked the 1911 image and you're sure it says Leeds for place of birth (and it isn't a mistranscription)?

I did do a fair bit of hunting around for George in censuses and such, and also for Frederick, the other day, but to no avail.

There's no Esther Moriarty in the 1901 -- and the first known child was born before the marriage.

And there's no other George Fell + Esther marriage.

Given the Lambeth location just post 1901, I've wondered about these:
