Cheryl

I think to find definitive answers - you are going to have to check the Parish Registers - I am not sure is they are on line as of now -

But I am sure they will come - or otherwise look on records - to see if they have been released on CD - some one may have them

Good Luck

Renes

Renes Report 10 Oct 2010 11:37

Have you looked for Deaths - his parents - may show an estimated age

Also the 1817 census printout you have - is that 1841 census

Because if it is there are two John Mountains - both lodgers - would you like the other one

Thank you both.
I know that John c1817 married Elizabeth Hubbert, so one of the marriages is correct.

The 1817 census print out that I have for John shows him lodging with William Phillips and Richard Johnson - civil parish - Bilsby.

I know his parents are also called John and Elizabeth but like you I cannot get any further back. Why did he have to leave home. lol

Do you think the marriage I found for 1788 is too early.
There is another option for the middle name 'Holland' of my gr gr grandad, and that is that there is an area in Lincolnshire called Holland district. Do you think that may be an option and that I am barking up the wrong tree.

Renes

Renes Report 10 Oct 2010 10:12

Not sure if relevant -

There is a marriage for John - on FreeBMD in June 1844 to an Elizabeth Troy - and as Patricia says there are 2 entries for John in 1841 - both lodging with others

Just a thougth

patchem

patchem Report 10 Oct 2010 10:05

In 1841 Joseph is married with a family, Thomas has no apparent wife but Jabez, 2, with him, John is with others, and I cannot see William.
So unfortunately none still with parents to get some idea of age.

Thanks Irene, yes that is them.

Patricia - thanks for that, I hadn't found William. I don't even know Elizabeths surname. I could not find a marriage, only the one at Stamford, which seemed too early and too far away.

John, 1816, Joseph, 1820, William 1813, and Thomas, 1815, born in Hagnaby to John and Elizabeth Mountain.
No obvious marriage for parents showing.

Cheryl

Sorry Irene,wrong family.
John 1817 was an ag Lab and his son George Holland was a butcher.

Cheryl

Cheryl Report 10 Oct 2010 09:43

Hi Patricia,
It is definately Holland as I have a copy of his sons birth cert that was bought in 1924.

patchem

patchem Report 10 Oct 2010 09:41

I think that without having access to all the censuses you are going to get very confused, because, as you said, there are several around.

Cheryl

Cheryl Report 10 Oct 2010 09:40

I have also found births of siblings of John 1817 (Joseph c1813 and William c1820), so think the marriage I found is unlikely as the parents would be getting on for the births. If they got married in 1788 why were children born 1813 - 1820

Sorry it is my gr gr grandad George Holland Mountain 1859 who was born in Leake.
John Mountain was born in Hagnaby, Lincolnshire. I have found his baptism for December 1916. This shows his (John's) parents as John and Elizabeth.
I don't have a subcription where I can look at census, at the moment.
There are several John Mountains born around the same time , in the same area. We think they are all related, but are trying to unravel.

Thanks

patchem

patchem Report 10 Oct 2010 09:25

Do all the censuses show him as born in New Leake?
Thanks
