I sent you a PM yesterday (Personal Message) offering to help you but you haven't read it.

At the top of this page under 'Messages' you should have a white envelope which should have my message to you.

Hi Eileen

OK....So you have access to a copy of your grandfather James Roger's marriage certificate.

Where and when did he get married? What was his occupation and address on the marriage certificate?

Just trying to establish if he was in Ireland or elsewhere to be able to look for him and his father on any census records.

Don't take it for granted that everything you were told was true. People do get things wrong or muddled.

My Mum was born in Dublin and all of us cousins believed that all of our aunties were too. Wrong! One was born in Colchester, England! Even my Mum believed that this particular sister of hers was born in Dublin!

You can search for Irish BDM registrations here.....

An index of Ireland civil registration including births, 1864-1958, marriages, 1845-1958, and deaths, 1864-1958..

Hi Eileen

There seems to be some confusion over your Grandfather's name!

On this thread you say his names is Willam Rogers.....

yet on your other thread you say his names is James Augustine Rogers and he was born in Sligo in 1903.

Do you have a copy of your parents' marriage certificate?

What is your grandfather's name recorded as and his occupation?
Who were the witnesses? Any with the surname Rogers??

I have looked on the Ireland, Civil Registration Indexes, 1845-1958 for his birth in Sligo and can only find these 2.

BE AWARE, THAT BIRTHS WERE NOT ALWAYS REGISTERED AT THE TIME OF THE BIRTH..MANY ARE REGISTERED MUCH LATER!

Name: William Rogers

Unfortunately, the Irish Birth records don't start recording the mother's surname until the 1930's.

Eileen....There were in excess of 20+ Pubs named The Barrel in and around Sheffied....a possible location would help narrow the field

I guess Eileen may have put the surname into the line provided when you post on this board, but that line doesn't show on here. I'll send her a pm as I am sure she will appreciate your help. Cx

You have searched in the Irish census site? or the UK one?

And for whom exactly are you searching?

Teresa With Irish Blood in Me Veins

Teresa With Irish Blood in Me Veins Report 25 Sep 2010 22:59

William who?

As you haven't put his surname in your message Eileen, other's cannot help you.

If you have posted your message under a particular surname.......others cannot see it.....you might not be aware of that .

Also, if he died in England or Wales..a death registration 'look up' would probably help too to get an idea of his approx age.
