This is the Wheeler family in 1891 (Matilda Moody is Joseph's step-daughter). Perhaps Matilda is Emma's mother:- |

On the 1901 census there is a Matilda Powdrill with the Wheelers. She is the Matilda Moody from the 1891 census. This is her marriage:- |

This is a bit complicated. Eliza Wheeler was previously Eliza Kinchenten (or Kinchington). In the 1881 census here she is:- |

This would seem to be Eliza Moody's marriage (the Eliza born c.1869):- |

This looks like Eliza with her husband and children in the 1901 census. Ancestry has transcribed two families together by mistake. The Bartley's are next door neighbours and not the same family:- |

i know a slade from work who lives local too and there is every chance given the surname we may share more than our occupation. |

You never know Brian - stranger things have happened!! I'd buy Emma's birth certificate and go from there. If Eliza IS Emma's mother then I would start asking lots of questions to your Slade workmate. |
