Are you a fan of musicals, Zena? You might like to know that Ann Leonowens is also buried in Mount Royal Cemetery. You know, Anna, of "King and I" fame.

Thanks Margaret i just found them on the 1901 census took me most the day and pulling my hair out they had been miscript Hankley but Theophilus changed his name to Joseph so i wonder if he used that name instead as i have checked deaths for Theophilus and there isnt any that fit.

Ha! I was just going to suggest that Wilfred died in England because I couldn't find his death in the Montreal records. Also can't find any records in Montreal for Theophilus or Leah.

Hi Margaret and Jonesey thank you so much for the info you have gave me.

I have just found tree on ancestry and found Wilfred died in 1927 Birmingham he died on the 27 Nov he must have to been to ill to travel or he died unexpectally after his wife left.

I have emailed the person so hopefully they will will get back to me.

I have found a death in 1945 in Birmingham for a Leah Hawkley the age fits so i wonder if Leah came back. I will get the cert.

Agnes Elizabeth Pallett, widow of late Wilfred Hawkley, daughter of Edward Pallett and his wife Agnes Elizabeth Fields died 17 Oct. 1938, buried Mount Royal Cemetery, Montreal. (Oh, I was in that cemetery this year, beautiful one!)

I'm unearthing the skeletons in the closet now,
Alice Laura Hawkley had a child Dora Joan Hawkley, father unknown, born 28 March 1937, baptised 11 May, 1937. Born & baptised Bethany House, Carnegie Boulevard, Montreal. (Home for unwed mothers?)

Mary Agnes Hawkley, daughter of Wilfred Hawkley & wife Agnes Elizabeth Pallett, born 13 Jan. 1907, baptised 24 Feb. 1907. Montreal (Presbyterian Victoria) Quebec.

There's also Amy Drusilla 1908, Dora 1910, Charles 1911, Arthur 1912, Alice Laura 1920,

Charles was re-baptised into Catholic church 1936. Probably was marrying a Catholic.

Yes that is the family Theophilus is a saddler he married my gr aunt x2 Mary Ann Prime. Now i know why they went there Theophilus followed his brother.

I don't think that he is likely to be your man. The original is very poor which is why they have not transcribed a surname.
