My grt gran was called Bridget and some of her childrens certs she was down as Bridget but on others down as Biddy, the name she used more regular...

Eleanor 12/2/1804 Otley f John
Harewood & Otley aren't far from each other 10/15miles
I know people got married "twice" as they lived in different counties just wondering if the same happened for baptisms??

sorry for the delay, Don't know where you got that from but it does look like her given it does have Harewood on the censuses, and I supose the theory of naming the children after their grandparents goes out of the window when grandparents , parents etc have the same name.
not sure if I've had some one look for the marriage of John & Ellen and her parents weren't on it or they couldn't find it. So I'm not sure getting the certificate would help, but why put Eleanor on some of the births of her children?

I have a wrong parent put down on a birth cert.....
Way too many John, John Robert, Robert and Robert Hy's in my tree....all descending from the same family....

One major headache at times...
But we all must enjoy the challenge as we woudn't be on here!

Yes I've realised I thought I'd missed a generation out as John's father was John . back on track now just looked for a birth on pilot for Ellen & Eleanor but their again she only aged 2 years in 10 ? why do our ancestors make it so difficult some times

She may have been baptised Eleanor, but prefered Ellen...

I think we all change our names at somtime...

Just looked at the census for ellen the daughter and her future husband is also there John Hebditch and possibly her suster Ann
