Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone,
I seemed to have hit a brick wall and i am totally stuck. I wondered if anyone might be able to help me.
I have asked for help with this before about a year ago but i think i might have more info this time.
My great grandfather was Joseph Bradshaw b.1895 in Alston, Preston, Lancashire. His father James Bradshaw (b. approx 1848 Dilworth, Lancashire) had been married before and had several children but married Mary Theresa Stevenson in 1888 in Longridge, Lancashire. Mary was age 19 at the time so i have worked out she must have been born about 1869. On her marriage certificate it states her father was Adam Stevenson, a pawnbroker who was deceased. I have found the census records for after the marriage, on some mary does not show as Mary Theresa but Mary E however the rest of the family is correct and also on the 1911 census Mary Theresa Bradshaw shows with her family including my great grandfather. I cant seem to find a birth for Mary or her father Adam anywhere or any census records showing them before she married. Its really weird, like they never existed before she married!
I am hoping you guys might be able to help me as you all seem real experts when it comes to finding information! any help at all would be really appreciated. thanks! hannah

Hi SomersetGirl. I did think that that could be her parents and i didn order the certificate- 1868 mary cowell and adam stevenson in preston. adam is noted as an engineer and his father is noted as Daniel Stevenson. I cant seem to find a mary and adam with a mary theresa that is the right age.

It would have been better Hannah to have updated one of your previous threads and updating the title - especially the last one above as it has 41 replies and the info people are finding for you now is the same. I remember doing quite a lot of work on this - even doing the lookups poss in parish records and there does not seem to be any new information in your post

I think this is the Adam you are looking at and so he had'nt died before she married

Jan I think this is probably that Adam Stevenson whose death you found in Ulverston - as his daughter Mary is age 6 in 1881 (born c1875) it is unlikely he had a daughter Mary in 1867
