Hubert John Wilde was born in 1882 in Edgbaston, Warwickshire but was possibly living in London - maybe West Ham/Forest Gate.
His wife was Jeannie Emily born 1887, Hackney, London.
Please could someone look them up for me. Thanks

Well done! Don't know where Hubert is though. Alexander Wilds should actually be Alexander Carter.

Barbara

Barbara Report 19 Aug 2010 22:24

Yes, Thanks - that is my Jeannie Wilde- staying with her mother and father. No sign of her husband Hubert though. Wonder where he was?

GlitterBaby Report 19 Aug 2010 22:26

Do you have the marriage cert for his occupation?

Barbara

Barbara Report 19 Aug 2010 22:26

Yes I have just realised who the Alexander is - definitely Alexander Carter. Thats great thanks.
Does it happen to say how many children Jane and William had?

Barbara

Barbara Report 19 Aug 2010 22:28

Hi Glitter Baby - no I haven't obtained a certiificate yet so yes ....it will make it more difficult to find him I guess.

If this is Hubert before he married, perhaps he was away when the census was taken. He was a 2nd officer from Birmingham.

William and Jane had had 6 children, 5 still living.

Barbara Report 19 Aug 2010 22:38

Gosh ***alviegal*** - how clever you are!! Maybe thats why I couldn't find him anywhere - It certainly fits as he was born in Birmingham area.

Barbara

Barbara Report 19 Aug 2010 22:39

Thanks for that - just wanted to check I had found all the children.

Barbara

Barbara Report 19 Aug 2010 22:43

I had only 5 children
Thomas 1882
William 1883
Jeannie 1887
Alexander 1888
Doris 1906
Will have to look for another inbetween 83 and 87 or 88 and 1906.
Its never ending isn't it!!!
Thanks for the info

He was 5'9", 14 stone and had a Japanese lady on his right arm, eagle, snake and butterfly on his left arm. The last one has him at 16 1/2 stone.
I think you need the marriage certificate to confirm his occupation, but it does sound like him.

Very interesting....putting on weight as he got older - wonder if he had a gal in every port too!!

Barbara

Barbara Report 19 Aug 2010 22:50

Yes, its on my 'to order' list
Thanks so much for all your help.

alviegal Report 19 Aug 2010 22:55

You're very welcome. I hope he didn't have a girl in every port. Can you imagine the nightmare of looking for any children born when he was on his travels!

Barbara Report 19 Aug 2010 23:29

***alviegal***
Just to let you know that Hubert Wilde is definitely the one in my tree as I found a passenger list for him travelling from Cape Town to Southampton in 1926 - Master Mariner and his England address is 246 Neville Road which is where his wife Jeannie was living with her parents.
Isn't it great when things tie up
Thanks again for your help

How very fortunate to have an address that you can definitely tie him in with.
Thanks for letting me know. So happy to have helped you.
