I was just trying out different permutations for my Maria Butler b1870 Woolwich but not registered under that name or in 1871 census. Her father is apparently William so I was just wondering if she was registered under a different name and either her mother or father died and she then had a different name. Just wondering if William Cummins could have been her father but her mother remarried to a Butler... |

LL, are you assuming she was born Woolwich as that was where she was married, or is that what's recorded on the census? |

maria Butleris on 1911, 1901 1891 as Maria Pearson c1870 Woolwich. She married William PEarson 1890 Northfleet Kent fathers name William Butler, labourer. 1881 has her in the metropolitan district school. School registers have her nearest living relative as a Charles Butler c1867 woolwich also in school. She is mising from 1871 census and cant find a birth for her under that name. There is a Maria Butler born Hampstead but this is not the one as she married GEorge Shurety and is on a later census with her parents. |

there is a birth for a Maria Cummins and there is a death for a William Cummins at Woowich aged 42 so I was wondering if Maria was a Cummins but her father William died and her mother remarried to a butler and she said her father was William Butler....... |

I dont thats why I asked if he was on 1871 as he would have had Maria and Charles with him under the name cummins. I was just browsing all the entries for woolwich and noticed a birth for a Maria and shortly after a death for a William. |
