Hi again Meg, thanks, i have spoken to my dad today and he said it was around 1943ish when she died so maybe the date you have found is correct, he also said that Alfred definately did marry again but he didn't know who to or when but he said Alfred died before his second wife.

My point in trying to find a death was to see if she died relatively young and Alfred re-married. By 1941 he would have been about 60, not impossible of course.

Hi again Meg, i really don't know where the "Violet" has come from, i guess stories get mixed up over the years.
If this Emma died in 1943 aged 68 years, that would make her birth around 1875, that more or less fits in with the info i found on the 1911 census, my brain is in overdrive haha.

Thanks Meg, Elsie Gale was my Grandmother and she was born 1913, i think it looks very much like i am on the right track with the name FONE, i wonder if my cousin is mixed up and Violet was the second wife.

My Great Grandfather was Alfred William Gale bn abt 1882 Dorset, his children were Elsie, Ivy, Frances,William, Wallace, Frederick and Stanley.
I found Alfred on the 1911 census with three of his children..
Frances Virtue Gale bn 1906... i know this one is correct
Frederick Charles bn 1907
William Cecil bn 1909
his wife is named as Emma bn 1874 ( i think her maiden name was Fone)
what is stumping me is that my cousin does not think he was married to an Emma but married to a Violet and when she died he married someone else but does not know who. i found a marriage for Alfred and Emma in Bridport Jul/Aug/Sept 1905.
I am completely stumped!!
I have brain freeze and don't have a clue what or where to look next.
