Hi I have been trying to find a Lucy Parkins 1854 and her daughter Mary Elizabeth,1872, who was born outside marriage, on the 1881 and 1891 census but with no luck, both born Cambridgeshire. I have looked for marriages for Lucy between 1872 and 1881 but haven't been able to find one. I did find a marriage for Mary Elizabeth in 1893 to a William Clark and found her on the 1901 census so where was she on the previous two and what happened to her mother. I did look at deaths thinking she may have died in childbirth but hit a blank there. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Many Thanks Dannie |

Just to start us off, is this Lucy as a child? Her surname is ripe for mis-transcription isn't it - Parkin. Perkins etc! |

They seem to have disappeared. There is a chance Lucy either married or lived with someone, and they were all living under his surname, but blowed if I can find anyone who matches this either! |

Many thanks for all your help I did look for marriages for Lucy but unfortunately didn't come across any maybe your theory of her living with someone and using his name is the closest explanation. Talk about mysteries!!! you never know I might just stumble across the answer one of these days. Anyway I am most grateful for the time you have taken to try to find them it is most appreciated. Kind Regards Dannie |

Hi Flo This would have been the route that I would have gone down if I hadn't purchased Mary Elizabeths birth certificate and she was born in Wisbech St Mary Cambridge it's like they disappeard into thin air. Many thanks for your suggestion any ideas are most welcome. Kind Regards Dannie |

This looks like them. Mary's place of birth is same as on the 1901 census. |

Hi Christina This does appear to be them how on earth did you find them? I have been searching on and off for a few years now without success that's why I put a post on here. Wonderful piece of detective work. Many thanks for taking the time to look you are a wonderful bunch of people on here and you all deserve a lot of praise for giving your time to help others and I for one am most appreciative of your help. Kind Regards Dannie |

1901, just incase you haven't got it. She is on the census as daughter (is this William her father in law, or has she married a much older man??), but the enunerator has written M or F in the 'condition as to marriage' column for everyone on this page....so impossible to tell if anyone is married, widowed or single. |

Hi Christina I noticed this but William is her father in law as I have her marriage cert and her husband was born 1866 it does get confusing at times. |

Hi Flo it states on the 1911 census that they had been married for 35 years so this would put the year of marriage as 1886 but I will definately send for the birth cert. before I go any further. Kind Regards Dannie |

Hi Florence I did notice the different childs name myself I think I am going to have to do some more research before I send for the cert. I shall see if Lucy Humphreys was born in Guyhirn as this is where my Lucy was from and then take it from there. I have had a look on ancestry trees without any luck, so it looks as if I will be putting this one to bed for a while it's so frustrating. These damned ancestors why do they have to be so difficult to find, oh well it keeps my little grey cells ticking over. Many thanks Kind Regards Dannie |
