Why James didn't marry Elizabeth Hiley;

London, England, Marriages and Banns, 1754-1921
about James Berryman
Name: James Berryman >> Gent
Age: 28
Estimated birth year: abt 1814
Spouse Name: Caroline Bliss
Spouse Age: 24
Record Type: Marriage
Event Date: 9 Jul 1842
Parish: St George the Martyr
County: Middlesex

So James may have been engaged to Caroline Bliss but still had his wicked way with Elizabeth Hiley??

Ohh.. just noticed Caroline is living with the Berrymans in 1841!!!

The witnesses on Emma's marriage could well be her Aunt Amelia Hiley and her husband;

Surname First name(s) District Vol Page

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Marriages Dec 1855 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

HENDERSON Caroline Ann Islington 1b 292
>>>>>>>>HILEY Amelia Islington 1b 292
>>>>>>>>>STAUNTON William Islington 1b 292
TANNER George Henry Islington 1b 292

It looks likely that James Berryman had died prior to 1861 and poor Elizabeth Hiley looks like she never married as I have found her in 1851, 1861, 1881 and 1891. In the last 2 census that I found she was a cook. Would like to find her in 1841 but haven't yet.
