Had to wander off and do some work. It seems that none of us who have been looking (I'm sure we've all done searches that aren't showing up here) has found anything either.

I searched the deaths index by given name Percy, no surname, and also by surname Griffiths, no given name, with the exact birthdate you gave, for instance. It's possible he lived under an assumed name. I'll have another look at those later; so hot and tired right now I just want to fall over.

Sorry i haven't any idea when he left his family, but we are sure his children were very young

We have no clues as to his where abouts after 1945. As far as i know his wife didn't remarry.He was never heard of again

Debbie .......................... can you give an idea of *when* he left the family? "Already" leaves a 15-year period, between 1930 (birth of last child) and 1945 (when last seen).

If he left the country, he could have done so 1930-1945 and returned for the funeral?

so he deserted the family ? I take it his wifes death cert holds no clues?
Theres no deaths for him for that date of birth so suggests he maybe went abroad!

There is 1 child still alive , yes he had already left the family by the time of his mothers death.

The last Percy's sister knew of him was at their mother's funeral in 1945.

What about Percy's children? Had he already left the family, and he just showed up for the funeral out of the blue, or was he still living with them?

The youngest daughter is on the electoral roll in 2002 with her husband; she is also on the ER in 2003. She may have died since 2005.

I assume his children are deceased (although not necessarily). The youngest would have been 15 at the time of the funeral.

I know of his war records but haven't read through them

Debbie, I hope you're getting that in order for others to help, it's no good if *you* know something, people trying to help have to know it too!

I hope Dee isn't off digging through Percy's war records as she indicated she was about to do, when you already have all that info, for instance. Her idea was to see whether there were any clues there that you might not know about, but you do know what's in those records.

I am in contact with Percy's granddaughter, who has no idea of what happened to him. Its the whereabouts of percy we are interested in. He simply vanished

His wife was likely Gieson. (Three births in Basford district, 1926-1928.)

I think he was married in germany, but his children were born in beeston notts. Sorry i don't know wifes last name

Can you give *all* the info you have? Not the details of the children's names etc., as they're living -- but *where* he married, and where they were born? Possibly his wife's last name?

When it comes to names, and searching for marriages and deaths etc., spelling counts. FreeBMD, for example, does not do "fuzzy" searches unless you ask for them.

We know he served in ww1 and married a german girl called kathrine, and had 3 children but hasn't been heard off by any of the family since 1945

Evidently he was a sickly child. Can't find a death for him though.
